Our team of attorneys and professional staff remain ready to provide experienced and exceptional services to our clients. Joe Monahan has over 27 years of experience in mental health and confidentiality law, probate, health and human services issues, and related matters.  He continues to serve as an adjunct professor at Loyola University School of Law, where he has taught mental health law for many years.  He is a frequent lecturer on risk management, mental health, and estate planning issues. 

Amy McCarty has been practicing in contested probate, child welfare, and related matters for over 15 years. She has successfully litigated hundreds of contested guardianships.  She is also an adjunct professor at Loyola University School of Law, teaching mental health law.

Jerome Goldberg, one of the original authors of the Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Code and a regarded mental health expert, remains a valuable resource to the firm as of counsel. 

Margot Gordon joined our firm earlier this year, bringing with her 14 years of experience in the area of complex estate planning and wealth management, including 12 years at her prior firm, where she was a partner. She will continue to grow this exciting area of our practice. 

As our accounting and financial expert, Meg Sima has over 17 years of experience in guardianship law, financial exploitation, estate planning, and related matters.

Liz Lawhorn has been with the firm since 2008 and has served as an adjunct professor at Loyola University School of Law, teaching legal writing.  She practices primarily in the areas of guardianship and risk management and has been the principal drafter of numerous briefs for contested appellate and federal court matters.

Additionally, Kevin Lichtenberg and Amy Cullnan recently joined the firm as associate attorneys, working with Amy and Joe on various contested matters involving guardianship and risk management. 

Our paralegal, Demi Simmons, also a new addition to our firm, brings years of experience to assist our attorneys and clients.
